ProRemodeler's David Weissman wrote an interesting article on windows and doors on August 24, 2016. If you're contemplating new windows and/or doors, you're not alone.

"Demand for residential windows and doors in the U.S. is expected to rise 6 percent a year to reach $25.6 billion by 2020.

That's according to the latest report from market research firm The Freedonia Group, which provides custom research across more than a dozen industries.

Home remodeling and renovation activity weakened somewhat during the second quarter. Across the board, major indicators reported slight declines, particularly in larger renovation and design projects.

Nonetheless, activity overall remains well within positive territory and is expected to continue on a steady pace for the rest of the year, with kitchen and bath projects leading the way.

Remodeling Market Index Holds Steady in Second Quarter

Washington, July 21 - The National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB)Remodeling Market Index (RMI) posted a reading of 53 in the second quarter of 2016. Although it slipped one point from the previous quarter, it still the 13th consecutive quarter with a reading above 50.

An RMI above 50 indicates that more remodelers report market activity is higher (compared to the prior quarter) than report is lower. The overall RMI averages ratings of current remodeling activity with indicators of future remodeling activity.
